around under Mariner. His goal xiaoweiwei 发表于 2013/1/27 19:43:00 |
Its been a busy summer for Morgan Rielly. Colin Kaepernick Black Jersey
.
After being selected fifth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the
2012 NHL Draft, Rielly was selected to represent his country in the
Canada/Russia Challenge and also competed in the Leafs prospects camp.
At this point, the defencemans focus is on preparing for what he hopes
will be his first NHL training camp.
Despite the impending lockout, Rielly has been training as if there will
be a camp and said he is hopeful that talks go well.
"Im certainly hoping that the players come to an agreement," Rielly told
Scott MacArthur on Mike Richards in the Morning on TSN Radio 1050. "I
understand its not quite that easy, but Ive been training hard and been
skating a lot, so Im certainly prepared to have a camp, but Im not sure
if its going to happen."
The whirlwind of the past few months has presented different challenges
and opportunities, but Rielly is trying to take it all in stride.
"Im certainly not trying to change as a person, Ive just been trying to
enjoy it and it has been pretty cool," Rielly said when TSN Radio 1050
caught up with him from the NHLPAs Rookie Showcase in Toronto this week.
"Ive been treated a bit different, but Im still me and havent changed a
whole lot as a person."
Coming off a serious knee injury that caused him to miss the majority of
the 2011-12 season with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL, Rielly
declared himself fully healthy and felt confident in the exhibition
series against Russia.
"I feel good right now," Rielly said. "I was pretty happy to have a
chance to play a couple of games over there and Ive been training all
offseason, so right now Im healthy and Im strong, so I feel good."
Getting a chance to compete at the Leafs prospects camp, Rielly came
away impressed at what Torontos future has to offer. He said 2011
first-round pick Stuart Percy was among those that stood out to him.
"It was pretty cool to spend about a week out here with the prospects
camp," Rielly said. "In terms of standouts, its a pretty high-class
group of players we have and theyre all pretty good, but Ill say Percy
was certainly one of the top players, and it was pretty cool to get the
chance to play with him on the team for about a week."
The 18-year-old from Vancouver said he is not worried about the
potential pressure and scrutiny that comes from playing in one of the
worlds biggest hockey markets.
"I couldnt be happier to be here with a blue and white jersey on right
now. I think its going to be a cool experience, and Im certainly not
going to allow it to change my game. Im just going to keep on playing my
game and enjoying it."

Im broke the 72-arrow record he had set in Turkey in May by three points
with a score of 699, hours before the 2012 Games official opening
ceremony.
He combined with Kim Bub-min and Oh Jin-hyek, smashing the record for
216 arrows with a total 2,087. Dwight Clark Jersey

Despite going into the last 10 minutes down 42-0, two late tries by
Connor Braid and John Moonlight gave the Canadians some consolation.
TORONTO -- Toronto coach Paul Mariner had feared the worst, and thats
what he got Monday.
An MRI revealed that key striker Danny Koevermans, injured in a
collision Saturday with New England defender A.J. Soares, has a torn
anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The 33-year-old Dutchman will be out the rest of the season and could
miss a chunk of the next one given the normal lengthy recovery time for
ACL surgery.
Toronto FC said there was no date for the surgery yet. And in a brief
statement Monday, the club didnt provide a timetable for Koevermans
return.
The team had the day off Monday and Mariner declined an interview
request.
The Koevermans injury adds another hole for Mariner, in his role as
director of soccer operations, and Earl Cochrane, director of team and
player operations, to fill.
While Toronto (4-11-4) lacks depth on all fronts, their focus had been
on strengthening the backline. Now the attack needs help.
The injury leaves Jamaican international Ryan Johnson as the teams main
striker. With the recent release of Nick Soolsma and sending out on loan
of Joao Plata, Mariner has few attacking options other than newly
acquired Andrew Wiedeman and rookie Luis Silva, although Reggie Lambe
and Eric Avila can both push up from midfield.
The situation is complicated somewhat in that Mariner has shifted the
team to a 4-4-2 formation, using two strikers. Under former coach Aron
Winter, TFC played a 4-3-3 which allowed greater use of attacking
midfielders.
Koevermans was hurt as he chasedd a through ball on the right side of
the penalty area in the 37th minute. Ronnie Lott Womens Jersey.
As he pulled up to cross the ball, he collided with Soares who was
rushing back into the box to catch him.
Soares appeared to accidentally step on Koevermans left foot as they
made contact, seemingly jamming it into the artificial turf.
The six-foot-three Dutchman, who was cut from taking a cleat to the
forehead in the collision, was stretchered off and left Gillette Stadium
on crutches.
"I fear the worst for Danny," Mariner said after the game. "Ive got my
fingers crossed, but I spoke to the doctor from New England, who I have
the highest regard for, and it doesnt sound too good."
Koevermans is tied for fifth in league goal-scoring with nine this
season and his rich vein of form in recent weeks has helped the teams
turnaround under Mariner.
His goal total is all the more impressive given that he missed a chunk
of the first half of the season through injury and was slow to find the
goal upon his return.
Then he hit a purple patch, scoring goals with his head, and almost
every other part of his body, including a creative flick of the leg.
That last goal, in a 1-1 tie with FC Dallas on July 4, was his sixth
goal in five games.
The Dutchman has 17 goals in 26 MLS games since joining the team with
fellow designated player Torsten Frings midway through last season.
He has 19 goals in all competitions for TFC.
Toronto hosts the Colorado Rapids (7-11-1) at BMO Field on Wednesday.
